Blackhawk Announces String of Recent Acquisitions

Blackhawk Network recently announced that it has acquired GiftCards.com and OmniCard, adding to the company’s rapidly expanding ecommerce businesses, specifically in the prepaid and incentive arenas. Blackhawk also announced the acquisition of NimbleCommerce, a digital commerce platform and network that allows merchants and brands to manage their own prepaid offer and gift card programs, or resell through a network of retailer and publisher branded sites. Effective January 5, 2016, Blackhawk purchased the ownership interests of Omni Prepaid, LLC from Wolfe, LLC, which in turn resulted in the acquisition of GiftCards.com, LLC and OmniCard, LLC.

The purchase price was approximately $120 million and will be funded using a combination of cash on hand and borrowings under an existing credit facility. “We’re excited to add another gift card website to our roster,” says Blackhawk Network President Talbott Roche. “By merging our current ecommerce offerings and the distinctive assets offered by GiftCards.com, we’ll be able to deliver the broadest selection of gift cards to current and future customers, both individual consumers and corporate buyers. [And] NimbleCommerce will add to our existing offerings by providing merchants and retailers with more online distribution capabilities for gift cards and egifts, and will also provide consumers with additional prepaid brands and offers.”
