A new Sleepy Hollow, N.Y., destination page shows how Gift Card Market is extending its local gift card platform. The page presents restaurants, shops, spas and salons in one place, giving visitors and gift recipients a way to discover local businesses. It also suggests uses beyond individual gifting: tourism boards can promote spending across a destination, local sponsors can connect a promotion to nearby businesses, and incentive or motivational event companies can use and customize the page to help organize a dine-around.Sleepy Hollow, located in suburban New York City, is the home of the legends of Ichabod Crane and the Headless Horseman, the Old Dutch Church (one of the first colonial structures in the US) and its historic graveyard, the Rockefeller estate and Kykuit mansion. With multiple hotels and conference centers and easy access to New York City, it’s a frequent location for corporate meetings.
A Destination Becomes Part of the Gift
The Sleepy Hollow page invites customers to “Give the Gift of Sleepy Hollow” and features local dining options alongside a restaurant gift card that lets recipients choose where to dine or shop. Its introduction also points directly to meetings, suggesting a dine-around featuring area restaurants. Customers can select an amount and send a card by text or email; according to the site, recipients can add it to a digital wallet and tap to pay.
The destination page gives the local businesses a shared setting. A tourism board, for example, can direct visitors to gift choices associated with the place it promotes, while a local sponsor could use a destination page to encourage customers or guests to explore nearby restaurants and shops.
A Possible Tool for Incentive Events
Dine-arounds offer meeting and incentive attendees a choice of restaurants instead of a single group dinner. A destination gift card page could help an event company present those choices and distribute dining value to attendees, while giving a sponsor a way to support an experience tied to the host community. The Sleepy Hollow page explicitly mentions dine-arounds, although the site does not spell out a packaged event or sponsorship program.
As RRN reported when the platform launched, Gift Card Market’s approach is designed to make local merchants available for digital rewards without requiring the company to sign up each business individually. Destination pages add a practical way to gather those choices around a place. For reward and event planners, the appeal is the chance to give recipients flexibility while directing attention and spending toward the local businesses that make a destination distinctive.
