Jeffrey Ross, CA Short CEO, Dies at 55

Jeff RossThe nearly 30-year veteran of the recognition field who served as C.A. Short CEO for nearly 12 years passed away Oct. 23, 2022, after a short illness. He was one of the first in the recognition field to push into the broader area of employee engagement technology, safety, and other performance practices.
Jeffrey Alan Ross, 55, who lived in Cramerton, NC, passed away after a short illness. He spent almost his entire career at North Carolina-based C.A. Short, a firm well known in the recognition field.
During his tenure, the company expanded beyond traditional recognition into employee engagement as he expressed in this Fox Business Show in 2015 (the video is no longer online). Under his tenure, the company developed and launched its People Are Everything employee engagement platform, and in 2017, he oversaw the Acquisition of Eagle Recognition, an Atlanta-based recognition firm.
After graduating Ohio State with a degree in finance and earning his CPA designation, he started his first job at Hausser and Taylor, LLC, an accounting firm. Three years later, he went to work for the C.A. Short Company as controller, eventually earning the titles Chief Executive Officer and Chief Financial Officer.
Ross and his wife Melodi recently celebrated their 23rd wedding anniversary. Ross was a big sports fan and avid follower of Ohio State Buckeyes, Cleveland Indians, and the Cleveland Browns.
An Ohio service at The Chapel in Green was held this past weekend, following one shortly after his death in suburban Charlotte NC.
