(IFI) Research Study: industry sales totaled $176 billion in 2021, a 49% increase since the last study was published six years ago in 2016. The recently published academic study, Regulated Human Capital Disclosures, published in SSRN, comes to a surprising conclusion. Human Capital disclosures of public companies can have a material impact on short-term share prices, sometimes known as “earnings surprises.” However, the impact is only noticeable in industries in which people are considered material to financial results, and that the companies most likely to disclose more information on human capital have higher levels of institutional investor ownership.
